Gordon Brown, UK Tour, '09

This surely must be the quote of the day:

(Brown) aims to show he is heeding concerns about the likely recession, by touring areas hit by unemployment in the 1980s.
Excellent! So good to know that Brown has his fingers on the pulse of the issues affecting the country! Even if it is the issues from circa 20 years ago!

The undertone of this tour is, of course, "remember there was a recession under the Tories as well!" I'd imagine a lot of people do remember this, but as their jobs and homes disappear under a Labour government, they're probably not going to care too much. And their spite and rage will still be directed at Nu Labour.

But actually I support this idea of Brown going on tour. The further he gets from London, the better. And if he can take his Cabinet of has-beens and never-will-be's with him, I'm even more for it. Sure, he is pissing money away on a tour that will achieve the very definition of fuck all, but the money he pisses away on this latest bag of bollocks is small change compared to the billions he spends in London on failing/failed banks.

In fact, if I could be bothered, I'd get a petition up on the Number 10 website demanding that Brown tours not just the UK, but the world as a whole to learn about the economic crisis. Because the further this moronic fucker is from the corridors of power, the better.

Why doesn't he go by coach? There's one available in west London...
