Bye bye Jack Straw
There must be barely a dry eye in the house - Jack Straw, the Demon Headmaster himself, is leaving front bench politics. From the BBC:
Announcing his resignation from front-line politics, the veteran MP said: "I was first appointed to the Labour front bench in 1980, and then elected to the shadow cabinet in 1987."
Straw's career is clearly remarkable - to have survived thirty years of front bench politics is no mean feat. But what is even more remarkable is that over the course of the three decades that Straw has been on the Labour front benches, he has failed to achieve anything of any worth whatsoever.
