Blogging Independence

News arrives from the other side of the Atlantic about an attempt to make bloggers more transperant:
More accurately, the FCC has put forward a new series of guidelines designed to encourage fair and transparent product reviews online - including an attempt to regulate "payola" on websites and blogs. The possible consequence of breaking those rules? A fine of up to $11,000 (more than £6,800 in real money).
Using the logic that whatever happens in the States is bound to happen over here - particularly since our government loves anything that allows them to have a pop at bloggers - I'd like to be ahead of the curve and announce who my advertisers are. Put simply, there aren't any. And I don't have links to any organisation that tells me what to write. Everything on here is what I want to say. For what it is worth,* this blog is entirely independent.

*Which in financial terms is nothing; I have literally not made a penny from this blog.

Some of us are simply in the business of blogging for a say in what we believe to be right. I am also an "indpendent blogger"... :)

I'm sponsored by a love of freedom and a hate of slavery.
