Jimmy Carter offers his insights into the healthcare row in America:
Former US President Jimmy Carter says much of the vitriol against President Barack Obama's health reforms and spending plans is "based on racism".
Hmm. Whilst I have no doubt that Barack Obama has faced a lot of racism in his life, I'm pretty sure that the majority of the vitriol he is receiving about healthcare reform doesn't have a racist basis. There may be another reason for the abuse.

Like, perhaps, opposition to his healthcare plan.

    The New York Times also puts this down to racism.

    "Joe Wilson yelled 'You lie!' at a president who didn't. Fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!" BBC

    When people say things like this I suspect they are projecting their own dyed-in-the-wool racism. I mean, how can you add an unspoken word unless you were thinking it yourself.

Erm, there's no real comment policy other than "don't libel anyone" and "don't use the comment section to try to sell your products". If you do either, I will delete the comments without warning. Otherwise, you can pretty much write what you want.
