Christian extremist lackwits call for Koran burning
Oh, good golly gosh this sounds like a such a dumb fucking idea:
A small US church says it will defy international condemnation and go ahead with plans to burn copies of the Koran on the 9/11 anniversary.
And the justification for it?
But organiser, Pastor Terry Jones said: "We must send a clear message to the radical element of Islam."Well, Pastor Terry Jones is clearly a fucktard of the very highest calibre if he thinks that this will be a clear message getting to radical Islam. After all, his country has invaded two nations and destroyed hundreds of thousands of lives trying to send a message to radical Islam. And if radical Islam is getting the message, it is only making them more angry. Which is what Jones's little piece of idiocy will do, if it goes ahead. Make angry radicals even more angry. Woo-hoo! That's great work there, Terry, you empty-headed lackwit.
Of course, burning books is never a great sign, but as we know, radical Islam is not above having the odd burning of stuff itself. So why shouldn't these Christians get in on the act? Well, partly because their religion is big on turning the other cheek rather than burning books, but also because this is a reactionary and stupid thing to do. The only comfort arising from this situation is that more mainstream Christians in the US and elsewhere are making their voices heard and are shouting this idea down. Which is what they need to do. Because the extremes of religion - whatever that religion might be - are very dangerous. And they discredit the whole of that religion; it becomes tainted by association with the bigots. Just as Jones reckons he is sending a message to radical Islam so Christian churches in the US need to send a message to their radical, or extremist elements - and they need to tell Jones and his odious ilk to go fuck themselves. Or more Christian words that have the same meaning.

Burn the Koran, burn the bible and any other so called holy book; burn the fucking lot because they all cause more grief in the world than the teaching they profess to bestow.
Yes burn the fucking lot and let us see these deluded morons, who believe in the great and evil fairy in heaven, destroy themselves and each other. No more and no less do they deserve.
Unfortunately, that is just as intolerant as those who want to burn the Koran.
I have no time for religion whatsoever, but I do believe that people should be able to hold whatever views they like. You can be a fucking Jedi for all I care (and that makes as much sense to me as being a Christian). The majority for religious believers are moderates who take a generally healthy moral code from their religious beliefs and occasionally get involved in archaic ceremonies that look non-sensical to someone from the outside. It is the extremists in religion that are the problem, and they need to be shouted down by everyone in society - including those in the religions that have spawned the extremists.
And remember how fast US laws and views change, and as soon as they change, the whole world is expected to applaud the changes and to implement them as well.
How long have the US elites been openly irreligious?
50 Years?
Great art and great poetry has religous roots.
A noble sentiment Nameless Libertarian but how tolerant are the Muslims just for starters? And then the Catholics and CofE when it comes to it. All have institutions that profess to be educational but which are used to ensnare the next generation, just in case the parents fail to do it for them.
None will lightly tolerate their members leaving although it has to be said that not all pass a sentance of death on those who decide to do so.
The catholics condemn much of Africa and Latin America to AIDS because of intolerent beliefs so, It looks as if intolerance pays and tolerance does not.
Liberty should not be a personal posession but should be available for all and perhaps, where liberty can be seen to be in the hands of despots we should be willing to show a measure of intolerance; and sometimes a very large measure of intolerance
"Burn the Koran, burn the bible and any other so called holy book; burn the fucking lot because they all cause more grief in the world than the teaching they profess to bestow."
Teaching? What teaching? I had the misfortune to read the bible when I was quite young. Even then I saw through the nonsense. The Koran is just the same, another pack of misunderstood, mistranslated bigotry aimed at keeping one class of twat 'above' the common herd.
If the writers of any fiction (other than the meja) came up with that tripe, it would not get printed/shown even on C4. There are so many inconstancies and contradictions, it is hard to comprehend why any one with a brain cell would give 'organised' religions time of day.
And why the fuck are we forking out for the child molesting god botherer to come here bringing his poison?
Anonymous,
Yes, because all Muslims and Catholics are the same. They are each a homogenous entity with identical beliefs on every issue. Oh, wait, no, of course they are not.
And just because "we" (whoever "we" might be) don't agree with them we need to fight them? Fucking hell, you sound just like George W Bush albeit with a different reason for going on a crusade.
Whether you like it or not, religion appears to be here to stay for the foreseeable future. To adopt an intolerant attitude to all religion on the (largely misunderstood in your case) notion of liberty is pretty dumb; religion and liberty are not directly linked, but you can have one living side by side with the other.

I agree that the Koran is utter shite & I think, as a critic of all religions, that Islam is the worst of them all. I've had disputs with US liberals, in particular, who argue against this trend of thought.
But wht you have to say to yourself is this. Will it actually work? I don't think it actually will counter religion in any way, nor is it meant to, it will just help this fucking cunt (who is shite at running a church if he's got so few worshippers) get himself big.
Likewise, I hate the regime in Iran, but I think what Iran hawks propose won't make the country free. Since when have we had to, on seeing something bad, mindlessly throw our weight around regardless of whether it does any good or not? No, we've put up with too much of that already.
I disagreed with Geert Wilders when he advocated that the Koran be banned for similar reasons, even though I think it is sociopathic shite.
On the other hand, I am almost persuaded by this*:

*no, not really!
